NOVELS

Action, adventure, grammar…and jokes.

Questing the Beast

Questing the Beast:  the Bombastic Autobiography of King Pellinore, King Arthur’s Oldest and Grumpiest Knight.

It’s a comic novel about King Pellinore’s attempts to nurture a glorious, literary Camelot, and the ignorant idiots who stand in his way.  Pellinore battles barbarians, ill-educated knights, thieves, invading Saxons, con artists, greedy backstabbers, and really terrible food.

The Lord of the Cuckoos

Pindar the runt-sized pigeon is forced to lead an unlikely army against Keus Ora, Lord of the Cuckoos…and he’s neither ready nor willing.

An action-adventure cross between “Animal Farm” and the Redwall books, “The Lord of the Cuckoos” tells the story of Pindar, an unlikely pigeon hatchling who is the ONLY bird in the forest to survive the Lord of the Cuckoo’s terrible dark purge of all year’s hatchlings.

The Grotesque Childrens' Book

Are those clues?  Hidden in the ceiling of the Uffizi…?  Clues which will reveal the murderer of the duke and duchess of Florence before the painter himself is caught and killed?

In 1581, one of the painters of the Uffizi ceiling frescoes overhears plots to murder the duke and duchess of Florence.  The painter disappears, but not before he has the chance to paint clues to the murder plot into the symbology of the images in the ceiling.  The painter’s disappearance sets off a whirlwind of paranoia and cover-up, involving alchemists, dukes, duchesses, scientists, doctors, bar wenches, a nasty corrupt barrister, and a mysterious illustrated folio of fairy tales and myths which isn’t quite as harmless as it first appears.

It’s a funny, literary Dan Brown/Vladimir Nabokov digital-puzzle-novel. The plot revolves around the murder of a 16th-century duke and duchess of Florence, but the clues are both in an Italian ceiling fresco, and online. Gobs of fun, and gorgeous illustrations.

King Arfer

It’s an action-adventure novel featuring a ragtag band of dogs who struggle to create a just society two hundred years after the collapse of Camelot.  The humans are gone; the land is overrun by vicious wolves.  One sword lies silently half-buried in the desolation: the sword Excalibur, patiently awaiting a new Ruler to rise up and lead them all.  Is it the reluctant young pup named Arfer…?
